Cello
Taught by our Cello specialists, Sam & Helen. A popular instrument with many people. Instruments of different sizes available to hire.

Double Bass
Taught by our lower string specialists, Sam & Helen. An essential instrument to provide balance in ensembles. We often offer scholarships to attract more students to lesser played orchestral instruments. Ask for details. Instruments of different sizes available to hire.

Guitar & Ukulele
Taught by Jake, our Guitar specialist. Many different genres and techniques covered. Electric Rock, Jazz, Acoustic, Classical. Instruments available to hire

Music Theory, taught by Andy Kemp individually or in small groups. The main aim of these classes is often to achieve an ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory qualification. We offer short intensive courses with this in mind.

Piano
By far our most popular instrument. Taught by Greg’s experienced team of teachers, Stef, Steph, Tom & Katherine, with specialist areas such as pop and jazz music and teaching young beginners. Keyboards available to hire.

Keyboard
Taught by our Piano teachers on a Piano. Instruments available to hire.

Drum Kit and Tuned & Latin American Percussion
Our drum specialists Gordon and George have a fantastic track record with students of all ages. Covering a wide range of genres. Tuned percussion lessons are available on pedal Timpani, Marimba and Xylophone.

Rock Band skills
George is our resident ‘rocker’ who plays and teaches drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and also sings! If you belong to a young band that need guidance on improving performances or on song writing, ask for more details about HMS Rocks On!

Vocals
Cherie, Natalie & Tom are our vocal specialists. They have achieved great success with young pop vocalists and also work in the jazz and classical idioms too. The exam cohort from summer 2022 saw all 14 of our students achieve Distinctions in their vocal examinations.

Trumpet & Cornet,
Our brass specialist Andy, has been teaching brass to all ages for a number of years and delights in passing on his experience. Instruments available to hire.

French Horn
An instrument that is not performed often at student level. We have spaces…let us know if you would like to have a no obligation try on a brass instrument.

Alto, Tenor & Bass Trombone
Alto and Tenor Trombones are available to hire and are very popular due to their versatility.

Euphonium & Tuba
Some instruments may be available to hire.

Flute & Toot!
Our Flute specialists Alex & Steph, teach both Flute and Toot to students of all ages achieving fantastic results. Instruments available to hire.

We recommend that very young students wanting to play the Flute, start on the Toot first, as it is much lighter and aids the formation of good technique. More information available upon request.

Saxophone & Clarinet

Katie teaches Clarinet & Sax for us. We have instruments and spaces for tuition. Do get in touch.
